Specifically, the NMAT
- recruits, prepares and sends the very best possible students from New Mexico for exchange experiences worldwide.
- provides, within the New Mexico area, a hosting exchange experience that is rewarding, challenging and highly memorable for all students, and their hosting and liaison families.
- fields an AFS volunteer organization that exhibits
excitement, competence and confidence in their handling of all program
challenges and opportunities; serves as role models for the exchange
students, host families, school authorities and the community at large;
and perpetuates the organization by actively identifying and
recruiting new volunteers, mentoring and encouraging current volunteers
and engaging former volunteers and exchange returnees in coordination
and cooperation with regional and national AFS.
